This one stuck out for me as a bit unique, as I don't think I've seen a film that solely focuses on the family of the perpetrator in a tragedy. Could be wrong, but there have definitely been many that focus on the victims or the perpetrator, but the next of kin family and their turmoil, rarely gets a mention. Maybe its been too taboo to tackle when attention should perhaps morally be directed or examined elsewhere, but in watching the trailer for Beautiful Boy, it's effectiveness shows there is a challenging story with emotional mileage to be had. Featuring two very good actors in Michael Sheen and Maria Bello, it has already been acclaimed at the Toronto Film Festival. Could be the year's first awards contender.
