TRAILER PREVIEW: Moneyball

George Costanza worked for the Yankees, so why not?

First line of the trailer made me laugh, so Moneyball starring Brad Pitt gets a mention on the blog. I guess it kinda summed up how I sometimes felt about the football team I managed last season.

Further delving found that the film is actually directed by Bennett Miller credited with the extremely delicate, precise and excellent Capote. If you appreciate film, this should now grab your interest. Sports films are tricky as the stories told, are typically toilers that end in unlikely triumph. Fair enough, but they can become a bit of a sameness so that very few stand out as classics. This one is in good hands however, and with 6 years between this feature and his last film (which was Capote), the wait could well be worthwhile.
