A great trailer for JJ Abrams new film Super 8 released today, giving us more insight into the plot of the film for the secretive production. What unfolds is a story told through the eyes of a boy (& budding filmmaker) who records an accident and escape of an alluded to alien presence, captured by the military. All hell then breaks loose in the small town as the situation gets beyond the control of the authorities that step in. As I've said before, Abrams is the king of excitement in blockbuster cinema with his ability to hook into an idea and keep you leashed on. Devices used such as the 'Rabbits foot' in MI3 and 'dark matter' in Star Trek have helped him in achieving this, and for Super 8, we see some sort of Alien meteor rock that whizzes about midway through the trailer. All in all it looks cool, and sets to be another worthy addition to his increasingly respectable portfolio of films.
