FILM: Blade Runner 2 in the works!!!

The world of Blade Runner is back!... but will that include Harrison?
News released today that Ridley Scott has just signed on to direct a new installment revisiting the world of Blade Runner. Easily the best cinematic news I've heard all year (which also overwrites most other news in my life). Details are scant other than the fact that the deal is done!

The question most have posed since the announcement is whether Harry Ford will be back to reprise his role as Deckard. My prediction? Yes he'll be there, but not as Deckard. I think it would be too abhorrent to the original classic, to concoct an excuse to include his character in a plausible way, given Ford's current age, and the cult fact that the couple were ultimately doomed in their somewhat poetically suggested fatalistic getaway. Too many hardcore fans would cry out in anger at any half measure to spin this. At the same time, how can they not have Indiana return in the film? So perfectly portrayed as the life-drained exterminator of life from lifelessness... or some bollocks like that which doesn't even have to make sense because the thought of it is too cool to pass up. He personified his character with so much delicate precision, the world couldn't help but be real.

Don't be surprised if Scott's good mate Russ Crowe doesn't team up again with his like-minded thistle. Have always thought he would fit perfectly in the Blade Runner environment and their previously successful collaborations might make it good sense, artistically and financially.

Whatever happens, I can't wait, and will hunt down further news as only a Blade Runner can!
