Having just completed filming for our V48sec entry for 2011 in London, I thought I would revisit our entry in 2010 based on the moving final scene in Blood Diamond. Originally we had planned to enter the scene from District 9 for the competition, but other teams got in before us and we realised it wasn't actually that smart an idea, or at least rather too obvious... (shows what I know as a District 9 entry won it). Craig had been practicing his South African accent and likes to think he spits the image of Leo DiCaprio, so we decided that Blood Diamond was the next best bet. The V Pocket Rocket which I don't believe anyone else used, was the perfect substitute for the Blood Diamond and we went ahead.
My mate Dee from University was also roped in by virtue of being the only Djimon impersonator I knew, and instead of having him possibly offensively hashing the actors accent, we had him hash his own native accent. Spent a few hours on the hill of Mangere articulating the performance to which Craig had a natural gift.
Am a big fan of this competition and was quite pleased how it came out. Hope to be as happy with our entry this year which is well on the way in the edit and coming soon.
